Restore

The Restore database option allows the user to restore a previously created backup file to the SQL database.  Just because you have a backup doesn't mean you are safe, you have to be able to restore that backup in order to use the backup/restore function.

If you restore data from a backup, YOU MUST RE-ENTER ANY AND ALL DATA OR CHANGES, you made between the time of the backup and the time of the restore.

BACKUP AND RESTORE

The backup and restore technique has been used in computers and is similar to saving at a point in a video game.  Let's look at an example:

If you make nightly backups when you come in first thing in the morning, the data is as it was the night before.

Day begins.

You should have a good method for knowing which payments were made (duplicate receipt copies) and what data has been changed.  Most all the transactions in The RAM System Corporate Edition have reports or receipts associated with them.  But other functions such as changing a serial number on an inventory record do not.   Be aware that any changes made to the data in your system must be manually re-created (re-keyed) after the backup is restored.

Warning!  Be sure you know the date of the latest backup file before continuing.  Information from the date of the backup to present must be recreated and re-entered in the system.

To restore a backup

1. Select the restore option from the menu.

A dialog box is displayed showing the backup location you specified under Change Backup Location.  Highlight the backup you want to restore.  If this is not the location of your backup file, navigate to that location and highlight the backup file you wish to restore.

Click OPEN.

Are you sure you want to restore.  This action cannot be undone.
