Performance Calendar

The Performance Calendar allows you to setup your own performance calendar based on your fiscal year end.  Sure it does.  What's a performance calendar, anyway?  Before you read what a performance calendar is, you should know what it is not.  If your company is strictly concerned with calendar month totals you DO NOT need to set this up.

A calendar month is defined as the calendar, for example June would start at 06/01 and end at 06/30.  If these are the monthly numbers your company wants to track DO NOT SET UP THIS SECTION.

A performance calendar is a system used to show the break down of your fiscal year in quarters made up of equal 4-4-5 week sections.  This method insures always comparing the same number of actual days in each performance period.  This method allows a manager to measure performance of account managers and stores based on the same number of days every quarter.  This makes goal-setting and bonus programs as "fair" as possible.  Setting these standards allows for much more control, than monthly totals based on a calendar month.  A performance month, by this definition may very well span more than one calendar month.  Depending on the starting year and number of weeks in that year.

Every fourth year, you must set the number of weeks from 52 to 53 to account for leap year.

You MUST set up a record for each year you have Summary records for in the Summary File in order for some of the historical reports to accurately calculate the year-to-date and month-to-date numbers.

When you first access the Performance Calendar screen, you must click ADD record.  Use the table below to help you fill in the fields correctly.

FIELD DESCRIPTIONS - PERFORMANCE CALENDAR

PerfYr

This column contains the performance year to be used, based on your fiscal year beginning date.  For example, 1990, for your company may have started on 12/31/1989.

Weeks

This column contains the number of weeks for the year, enter either 52 weeks or 53 weeks.

BeginDate

This column contains the beginning date for the year.  The system automatically calculates this starting number based on the Fiscal Year End Month and First Day of Business in Company Setup.

As subsequent performance year records are added, the system uses the ending date from the previous year to automatically assign the beginning date for the next performance year.

EndDate

This column contains the ending date for the year.  The system automatically calculates this ending number based on the starting date and the number of weeks you select.

This is an example of a performance calendar set up.
