The Location file holds the records of other locations you set up for a corporate chain, for use in the Transfer options. If your company has multiple locations, this store along
Locations are used by the Transfer options to assign other location numbers to inventory when transferred. The locations entered in this file are listed in the drop-down box on the Transfer In and Transfer Out screens.

Locations
Locations are used to identify the inventory, customer and agreements for a particular store.

Remember, in order to add a location you must set up at least (1) one division and (1) one region and (1) one distribution group. |

This is an example of (2) two Location records. Location records are displayed in a grid.
To add a location
Click ADD at the top of the location form. Fill in the fields in each column according to the descriptions below.

This column contains the (4) four digit number assigned to each location record. |

This column contains the name you assign each location. These can be the name of the city where the store is located or as in the example above, a different designation if the stores are in the same city. |

This column contains the city where this store is located. |

This column contains the (2) two character state abbreviation where this store is located. |

This column contains the zip code for this store. |

This phone column contains the phone number for this store. |
Check this box if YOUR store is allowed to transfer from this location. For example, if your store is in Texas and the location record you are adding is in New York, you might not allow this location to transfer to or from the New York location. If you want this store to be able to accept transfers from the location record you are adding/modifying check this box.
If you DO NOT want this store to be able to accept transfers from the location record you are adding/modifying do not check this box. |

This column contains the email address of the location listed. This email address is used for transferring inventory, and automatically emailing the ETRN file to the receiving location. This field is optional. |

This column contains the Region. A drop-down box reveals a list of region codes previously input in the Regions file. Select the region that is associated with this location. |

This column contains the Distribution Group. A drop-down box reveals a list of distribution groups previously input in the Distribution Groups file. Select the distribution group that is associated with this location. |

This column contains the web site address for this location. This information is used for RAMOnline a software program which allows your customers to log in and make their rental payments on-line. |

REMOTE PAYMENTS REQUIRED FIELDS The remaining fields are used for processing Remote Payments. The connection to remote locations is NOT created by The RAM System Corporate Edition it is simply used by the system to update the database at the remote location. |

This column contains the IP address or fully qualified remote computer name for each location. |

This column contains the SQL server name for each location. |
|
This column contains the SQL user name, used to login to each location's SQL database. |
|
This column contains the SQL user password associated with the above listed user for each location's SQL database. |

This column contains the database name for The RAM System Corporate Edition for each location. Be sure to use the correct database name for the other locations, as it may not be the same as yours. |

This column contains a TEST button, in order to test the connection to the remote location's database. |
|
When you click the TEST button in the column, a message is displayed to tell you if the connection succeeded.

Click PRINT at the top of the form to print a list of the file displayed.
Some frequently asked questions: (click each question for answer)
You MUST enter your own location in this Location file. You must input at least one record in the Divisions file in order to, ultimately, add a location. You can add (1) one division called "ALL DIVISIONS", and assign this division to (1) one region called "ALL REGIONS", and assign this region to your location. |
Use the name of their city, or if it is in the same city as YOUR location, use the street to identify this as being a different location. For example, if you have (2) two stores in Magnolia, AR one on Main Street and one on Vine Street you could name one location Main - Magnolia and one location Vine - Magnolia. |
How many idle refrigerators does store 3 have? How much income did store 5 generate last Tuesday? What are the depreciation totals for store 1? How many active agreements does store 2 have? |
In this case, if you do not want this store to transfer TO another store, you do not have to add this location unless you want this store to receive transfers FROM the location. In that case you have to add the location so your store can receive transfers. But you can still prevent your store from transferring TO this location using the "Allows Transfer Outs" checkbox. |
